Which sauna is right for you?
Three saunas, three effects in the wellness & spa area
Not every sauna is the same. Finnish sauna, steam bath and infrared have different effects on the body.
Finnish sauna:
intense heat for body and mind
The Finnish sauna is the classic among sauna types. Temperatures between 80 and 100 degrees Celsius, low humidity, short infusions of water on the hot stones. The body sweats intensely, the muscles relax, and circulation gets going.
Anyone who goes to the Finnish sauna in the evening after a long day at the lake or on the bike will sleep more deeply and wake more refreshed. Many sauna-goers report a noticeable improvement in sleep after a sauna session.
The Finnish sauna strengthens the immune system, promotes circulation and reduces stress. Anyone who uses the sauna regularly does something good for their cardiovascular system.
Steam bath:
gentle, moist heat that works from within
The steam bath uses moist heat at around 40 to 50 degrees Celsius. Gentler than the Finnish sauna, but just as effective.
The high humidity of almost 100% opens the airways, moisturises the skin and relieves tension in the body.
Especially suitable for anyone with sensitive airways or who does not like intense heat. You sit down, breathe deeply, and after a few minutes you can feel everything easing.
Infrared cabin:
deep heat that goes straight into the muscles.
The infrared cabin works differently from a classic sauna. No hot air, but heat rays that penetrate directly into the body and warm the muscles from within.
This type of heat is particularly beneficial for athletes, as it helps relieve muscle and joint pain and relax the muscles.
The temperatures are lower than in the Finnish sauna, which means you can stay in longer. Ideal after a long day of cycling, a yoga session or an extended hike at Lake Wörthersee. Step in, sit down, and let the warmth do its work.
Outdoor pool at Lake Wörthersee
Wellness at Lake Wörthersee:
Being by the lake without being in the lake
Not everyone wants to swim in Lake Wörthersee. Sometimes the water is too cold, the beach is too crowded, or you simply want some peace and quiet.
Giulia Slow Residence’s stainless-steel outdoor pool measures 6.3 by 10 metres and has a generous sunbathing area around it.
Cool down after the sauna, float in the water, or simply enjoy the sun on a lounger.
At the pool, hotel guests will find peace and space even in peak season.

Lake Wörthersee is one of Austria’s most beautiful holiday regions.
If you would like not only to unwind, but to truly relax, Giulia Slow Residence is exactly the right place.
The wellness area with sauna, steam bath, infrared and outdoor pool is included free of charge for all hotel guests. Simply arrive and let go. All rooms & suites at Lake Wörthersee have a balcony, terrace or garden area, and breakfast is always included.
